Basile Kohler began playing the cornet at the age of 11 at the Pully Band School of Music. He quickly distinguished himself by winning honorary positions in regional, cantonal and national solo competitions. He joined the ranks of various brass ensembles including the EC Mélodia, where he held the position of principal cornet from 2012 to 2018, then soprano cornet from 2018 to 2020.

In 2013, he entered the professional trumpet class at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne (HEMU), in the class of Mr Olivier Theurillat. He will first complete the Bachelor of Arts, in 2016, before continuing with a Master of Arts HES-SO in musical pedagogy. In 2018, the recital he gives to complete this training will be rewarded with the award of the Norbert Moret association, for the excellence of the Master recital.

In 2018, he entered the Lucerne High School of Music (HSLU) in the class of Mr. Immanuel Richter in Master of Arts in Performance Orchestra. His final repertoire exam, as well as his final recital, will be rewarded with a score of 5.8.

Basile Kohler has directed various musical groups, including the Lyre Paroissiale de Vuisternens-devant-Romont's band since 2015, and teaches in the schools of Aclens, Pampigny, Prilly, Pully and Yens.

His career also led him to military training in 2012, which he completed with the rank of First Lieutenant and to the position of Company Commander of the Military Marching Band of Mechanized Brigade 1 (ex Armoured Brigade 1 ) until 2019.

His leadership experience led him to take over the direction of all the young people of the Pully music school and since 2015 he has been appointed director of La Lyre Paroissiale de Vuisternens-devant-Romont and since 2020 the Fanfare de la Verrerie de St-Prex.

We wish Basile a lot of fun and success in our ensemble.
